Kino #19: Thursday 29th July at Vibe Live
Our next open-mic screening happens on Thursday 29th July, at Vibe Live, Brick Lane (see photos of our June screening here).
As always, there are no themes and no pre-selection of the films we show. We ask only that films be under 6 minutes, on dvd, and include the Kino London logo (just for our screening). Oh, and we also stipulate that the filmmaker should be there on the night, of course. Well, who wants to a watch a unrepresented short?!
If you feel like you can’t meet those rules – you perhaps can’t put the logo on in time – but want to screen anyway, let us know. We’re completely open to a bit of arm-twisting, because we don’t want to be turning away people who want to show their short.
If you’d like to screen at Kino #19 drop Laura a line at screen@kinolondon.com She’ll need your name, the title and duration of your film and some contact details. The Kino logos are available to download here.
And, if you want to chat about Kino before deciding to screen – as people often do – Laura’s the person who can help you out there too.

GUEST FILMMAKER – EMILY JAMES
Our guest filmmaker for July is acclaimed documentary filmmaker Emily James. Emily is a graduate from the National Film and Television School, and was already winning international awards with her student films. Her first broadcast commission, The Luckiest Nut in the World (Channel 4, 2002) led the Guardian to assert “Emily James is a genius… and will in time be revered as a television innovator”. Pretty impressive claim, huh?!
Emily will screen a short film made as part of her current project, ‘Just Do It: Get off your arse and change the world!‘ ‘Just Do It’ is a feature-length documentary that follows the mischievous and risky world of UK climate activists. Screening of the short will be followed by a short Q&A for you to put your own questions to Emily.
