Kino #20 : Thurs 26th August, with special guests the Blaine Brothers
Our next open-mic screening happens on Thursday 26th August, at Vibe Live, Brick Lane.
As always, there are no themes and no pre-selection of the films we show. We ask only that films be under 6 minutes, on dvd, and include the Kino London logo (just for our screening). Oh, and we also stipulate that the filmmaker should be there on the night, of course, to stand up and say “Hi, I made this!”
If you feel like you can’t meet those rules – you perhaps can’t put the logo on in time – but want to screen anyway, let us know. We’re completely open to a bit of arm-twisting, because we don’t want to be turning away people who want to show their short.
If you’d like to screen at Kino #20 drop Laura a line at screen@kinolondon.com She’ll need your name, the title and duration of your film and some contact details. The Kino logos are available to download here.
And, if you want to chat about Kino before deciding to screen – as people often do – Laura’s the person who can help you out there too.
GUEST FILMMAKERS – BEN & CHRIS BLAINE
We are delighted to announce this month’s guest filmmaker. Or filmmakerS should we say. Yes, this time we bring you not one, but TWO special guests for your delectation.
Ben and Chris Blaine (AKA Charlie Productions) will be chatting about their departure from shorts and the way forward with their features. As well as one of their award nominated shorts, they’ll be screening the trailer for their feature in development “Hallo Panda”. We’re oh so excited.
The Blaine brothers aren’t your classic filmmaking duo.
In their own words: “We never wanted to do this”
“We weren’t clutching super 8mm cameras in our tiny jam-stained hands before we could even toddle. Whilst it was apparently clear from the start that neither of us were cut out for a proper job, it wasn’t until we were in our late teens that the idea of making a film first really occurred.”
But since then the modest twosome have created a whole host of short film wonders, and we can’t wait to hear about where they’re headed next.
