Kino #28 :: Wednesday 11th May @ Vibe Live
Kino’s famous open-mic film night returns to our Brick Lane home of Vibe Live tonight, May 11th. Good news for all you mid-week film/party-goers, as it’s a Wednesday!
If you’re new to Kino, welcome to our world, if you’re old-hat, we look forward to seeing you once more at our crazy little film night. If you really don’t know who or what we are, then look no further than what Shooting People’s Ben Blaine said about us after he took the floor at Kino: “if you have a short you want to show, there’s no friendlier place to do it.” And that’s a quote.
Get yourself on the ‘I’m attending’ list via our Facebook here.
KINO LONDON – THE LOW-DOWN
Kino London’s monthly open-mic film night is the only film night of its kind in London. We are fiendlishly non-competitive. We’re not a festival, nor are we a competition. We’re a truly open platform for both experienced filmmakers and those finding their feet as storytellers and producers. If you make it we’ll screen it. Why? Because we love short films and we believe that short filmmakers need an open, encouraging and collaborative atmosphere in which to screen their work. Simple as that. We’ll also give you some popcorn to soak up the beer (or whatever your film-watching tipple is.)
WANT TO SCREEN?
Filmmakers register in advance to screen their short at the next event, sight unseen. There are no themes, no pre-selection and no restrictions, other than:
- films must be under 6 minutes
- films must be on DVD
- films must include the Kino logo + screening number (28) at the end, just for our screening
- the filmmaker must present the film in person.
Any quibbles with our rules – let us know. We’re here to be accommodating (within reason…!).
If you’d like to screen at Kino #28 drop Laura a line at screen@kinolondon.com She’ll need your name, the title and duration of your film and some contact details.
WE ALSO DO… THE KINO CHALLENGE – A DIFFERENT BRIEF EVERY MONTH!
Alongside our open-mic shorts, Kino is now issuing a monthly challenge to filmmakers – 30 days to make a short of our audience’s choosing, and bring it back to screen at the next event. 2 teams of hungry filmmakers are currently working on separate versions of a film based on “That was, without doubt, the best funeral I’ve ever been to” which we hope to see on May 11th. What will the next challenge be? Come to Kino #28 to find out. More details here.
